All About Honeywell Home
Security
It wasn't so long ago that installing a home security system
was a rare occurrence. Now, however, home security is a very
wealthy industry as people from every walk of life and type of
neighborhood are learning about and installing home security
systems on their residences. There are many different types of
home security available, but this article focuses on a single
company: Honeywell. Read on to learn more about Honeywell home
security.
The Honeywell Company is actually the product of two
different companies: the Minneapolis Heat Regulator Company,
owned by W.R. Sweatt and the Honeywell Heating Specialty
Company, Incorporated, owned by Mark Honeywell. These two
companies joined together in 1927 and became known for their
jeweled clocks as well as for their products in the heating and
cooling industries. By the year 1998, Honeywell was operating
in ninety five different countries.
The two most important parts of your Honeywell home security
system are the control panel and the keypad. Honeywell offers
plenty of different control panels.
In a Honeywell security system, the control panel acts as
the main computer control for the entire system. All of your
systems sensors connect back to the control panel. The keypad
of the Honeywell system can be located in as many areas of the
home as you wish. Most people choose to have keypads at the
doors to their homes, though some people also choose to have
keypads located near the places where they sleep.
In addition to the control panel and keypad, the Honeywell
system features magnetic contacts, passive infrared motion
detectors (PIRs), acoustic sensors and smoke detectors.
Magnetic contacts are placed on the windows and doors of
your home to detect when someone tries to open the window or
door from the outside. When a window or door is opened after
the security system is armed, the magnetic contacts send a
signal to the control panel which then sounds your home's
alarm.
Acoustic sensors are placed on the walls or on the ceiling
near the windows and doors of your home. The acoustic sensor
will send a signal to the control panel in the event that
somebody breaks through the windows or panels of your
doors.
In the event that the magnetic contacts and acoustic sensors
don't work, you might want to consider investing in a passive
infrared motion detector (PIR). This is a sensor that will
detect a home intruder by detecting motion or body heat in
certain areas of the home. PIR devices are made to be active
when nobody is home or to detect when people in your family
enter into areas you would rather keep clear.
Finally, the smoke detector in the Honeywell home security
system is connected to the control panel of your system. When
smoke is detected the control panel can be programmed to
contact the local fire department and have someone come to your
house to make sure everything is okay.
In addition to being popular, Honeywell home security
systems are known for their affordability. If budget is one of
your main concerns, Honeywell is a great way to go!
